Example 3) Magnetic field around a Single Loop of Wire

        + (Positive Terminal)

        - (Negative Terminal)

A loop of wire with current creates a little magnet

It either has:

The North Pole on the top of the loop and the South Pole on bottom

OR South Pole on the top of the loop and the North Pole on bottom

How to find the North and South Pole of a loop of wire

Step 1 - KNOW - Current travels from ________________  terminal, DRAW the direction of the current on the wire

Step 2 - Bring your hand to the loop and point your thumb in direction of ________________________

Step 3 - Curl fingers of left hand

Step 4 - Note where four fingers are pointing when they enter the

____________________of the loop

Fingers tips will point in the direction of the NORTH POLE of the magnetic field of the loop

For the loop pictured above, the North Pole is ABOVE or BELOW ??

Where's the south pole?? ABOVE or BELOW ??
